The Blue Umbrella

The Blue Umbrella

The movie was nostalgic with a rush of childhood memories. Based on a story by Ruskin Bond, the movie reminded me of my old school days. The stories from taught from the 'Rapid reader' at school though very intriguing, were always with laced with fear and used make my heart beat faster. When you would be evaluated and judged on how well you read the story and a miniscule incident could be an 'essay type' question; the joy of reading for pleasure was overpowered with the anxiety to perform...

However now when I watched the movie, I was able to recollect how and what I used to feel while reading the stories then. Though I wished to grow up soon as a kid, now, I feel quite the contrary. I am sure you too would love relive some moments from your child hood.

With every year passing by, the complexities of our lives just weans us away from enjoying the small luxuries of life...

The movie won the National Award in India, for the best children's film. A brilliant performance by verteran actor Pankaj Kapur and child artist Shreya Sharma

Little Zizou

Little Zizou

Saturday afternoon, after a lot of house hunting, numerous glasses of something to quench the thirst; almost a slip at the restaraunt, with a bruised elbow...I and my room mate walk into PVR, the local theater for 'Little Zizou'. My room mate is quite apprehensive of my taste, so are many others. I am not surprized, you too would not be either. From the posters it was looking if as if had dragged him into a children's movie...

I had a great trust on Sooni, I was sure she would not disappoint me. I enjoyed 'Being Cyrus' and each of Rohinton Mistry's novels on Parsees. Neither is Mumbai unknown to me, nor are the ways of the city.

Little Zizou was a treat; I was quite content that my room mate too walked out satisfied.

There are some actors whom I like to mention for their talent: Jahan Bativala, Dilshad Patel and Imad Shah.

Mystic River

Mystic River

Clint Eastwood makes a movie based on a novel Dennis Lehane. My friend brought this movie on his hard disk some five years back; along with a couple of other movies. That time, I simply could not pull through the pace of the movie and just abandoned it. But in these five years a lot happened with me in terms of movies. Few days back I was quite stunned to see Laura Linney along with Sean Penn in a movie trailer. Was quite curious to know which movie was it and was equally surprized to know it was Mystic River. Later I remembered that I knew this fact already, but did not pick it up as I had shelved it long time back.

So, I walk up to my DVD store and rent it. I still do not watch for the next three days, almost on the verge of abandoning again. Finally, today I sat down and watched it.

I should have watched it five years back.

See a lots been said and writen about it already. And its not a new movie so you already know what's it all about. All I would say, I learnt a lot more about the cast and the crew in five years. It helped me relish the movie more, a lot more...

Merry and not so merry blur

I am reading a book for last two months; Unaccutomed Earth not yet been able to finish it. I kept Human Stain away after trying to read to read for three months. I have a books on Film Studies and the Art of making Wealth. All heaped up next to my bed; when would I finally get time to read them, I am really waiting for it...

I am surfing the televsion for something to keep me glued; but somehow everything fails to keep my attention. I want good music; nobody plays it anymore. No point surfing I guess, make your own playlist, best way out. Looking for an interesting movie to watch, well no luck there either. So finally stick to FTV which is playing some music but mindless videos...Allows me work on my laptop, and not bother to look onto the TV screen...

Sometimes the reality is too stark to believe, you need a pill to digest it...Life looks beautiful from your window, but when you turn around to look for life in your room, there is no sign of it anymore...Where did it go, where did it slip away, while you were busy...Well, what's gone is gone. All you can do is now is wait...Simply wait...

In Search of a Midnight Kiss

In Search of a Midnight Kiss

Misanthrope looking for misanthrope...

Some good moments, the shots, the narrative, attempt to break the convention, a lot of things were on my mind when I was watching the movie...But nothing much to tell when it comes to writing the review..
